My name is Vivian, I'm a Colombian and I'm studying Industrial Design in Icesi University in Cali.
On my vacation I like to travel to places where you can enjoy the nature, I don’t care to spend all day in the hotel room with air conditioning, watching TV, or being in the pool all day and sunbathe. I like to visit places that aren’t well known and far from big cities, where there are animals that I haven’t seen; I'd rather go where there are sea or rivers because I practice free diving and I love to see each animal or plant, if I can.
Moreover, I like to taste the different foods of every place where I go, for example I've eaten rabbit, duck goat, alligator, ants and piranhas.

The purpose of writing this blog is to share my experience in Capurganá. I love to visit a natural reserve and I want to talk about this singular place that I visited 2 years ago, because this place is amazing but many people don’t know about it. This place is to relax, away from the big cities, hear the sounds of nature, see many animals in their habitat, visiting nature reserves and taste seafood.

In December of 2013, I went to Capurganá with my family. I had a wonderful vacation but that experience was so different for me because in Capurganá there weren't many buildings, only Claro had a telephonic service in the place and the service was so bad, there weren't cars, therefore people used horses to transport, when I walked around the place in the roads I didn't see many people near, only animals and nature.

Firstly if you want to travel to Capurganá you should know that the only ways to get there is travel by boat or small plane. I didn't know this and I felt so scared because the small plane moved very strong during flight, I felt like stirring the luggage in the back of the small plane. As soon as I arrived to Capurgana I felt safe and I felt so happy.

Moreover, when I arrived to Capurganá and get off the small plane I expected to see the airport but I never saw it, there wasn't. Instead of seeing the airport I saw a ruined house, there were some airline workers who delivered our luggage and they said to take a taxi, I looked for taxis everywhere but there weren't. You should travel from the ruined house to the beach by “carreta”.
Then you should travel for 40 minutes approximately by boat and finally you will arrive to Capurganá. In Capurganá you will see small village, where there are few houses but many hotels because in Capurganá people live of the tourism therefore they need many people travel to it.

The first day in Capurganá my family and I lived an unexpected experience because the lights turn off every night for three hours one day from 6:00 to 9:00 and the next of 9:00 to 12:00. That day nobody didn't said us about this and we were on beach until 6:30 p.m. thus when we wanted to return the hotel we couldn't see the road and we got lost.

During the following days in Capurganá, my family and I visited several waterfalls and rivers, there we saw several small fish and river shrimp. In a waterfall we visited called El Cielo, was shallow and we wanted only to bathe, so my sister and I sat on the shore with our legs in the water when we started to feel that something stung us and we out of the water quickly. My dad had his swimming glasses and he went to see what was in the water, my father found a very large river shrimp. These animals are aggressive because in that place is forbidden fishing and they felt that we invaded their territory.

Also we did several walks through the forest where we saw many animals in their own habitat and we walked to a beach in Panama. Finally, I should said that we had a wonderful vacation, we saw many animals: such as tarantula spider, howler monkey, river shrimp; in the sea we saw a fish that if it feels threatened it opens long purple fins to indicate that you should be away.
